There is a push from governments, retailers and consumers to reduce carbon footprint of greenhouses. Voltiris enables double-use of large greenhouses surfaces to produce electricity without impacting their high agricultural yield. Voltiris introduces a solar panel design to generate electricity from the part of sunlight's spectrum that is unused for crop growth.

Installation & Maintenance Technician (f/m) – Solar Solutions for Industrial Greenhouses

Mission:

Voltiris is dedicated to reducing the carbon footprint of global food systems by developing innovative solar energy solutions for the agricultural sector. As an award-winning company based in Lausanne, we are expanding our deployment of photovoltaic systems across Europe. We are seeking a full-time Installation & Maintenance Technician to lead the on-site execution and technical management of our solar projects.

Role Overview:

The Installation & Maintenance Technician owns the execution of Voltiris solar projects on-site, from kit delivery to commissioning. You coordinate mechanical installers and electricians, control quality and safety at every step, and hand over a fully validated, documented system to the client. Beyond installation, you monitor deployed solar project via our online platform and lead the corrective and preventive maintenance activities that keep them performing over time.You will act as the primary field representative for Voltiris, managing external contractors, coordinating complex logistics, and bridging the gap between engineering design and real-world implementation. The position will take you across several countries worldwide, with frequent travel to greenhouses located around the globe.

This position can be based in Switzerland or in the Netherlands.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Preparation & Logistics:

• Site Preparation: Conduct preliminary site assessments to verify technical readiness and resolve logistical constraints before the main installation phase begins.

• Resource Management: Prepare technical components at our facilities and at the client’s site. Support the logistical team in getting tools and equipment to project sites.

• Inventory Control: Manage the inventory for project-specific parts and installation equipment, ensuring that the field team is never delayed by missing components.
  
  

Project Execution:

• Coordinate the installation of Voltiris solar modules in industrial greenhouses, from initial planning to final commissioning, in collaboration with:
  
  

o External teams in charge of mechanical installation.

o Electricians for connecting the solar systems to the grid and ensuring proper functioning.

• Quality & Safety Oversight: Enforce rigorous quality control during the installation process. Ensure that all site activities comply with safety, sanitary, and regulatory standards specific to industrial agriculture.
  
  

Project Commissioning & Performance Validation:

• System Commissioning: Lead the final testing and activation of solar installations. Verify that all components are performing to specification before formal handover.

• Operational Handover: Manage the compilation of "as-built" documentation and provide technical training to clients and greenhouse managers.

• R&D Integration: Collaborate with the R&D and technical teams to test new iterations of our technology in the field.
  
  

Monitoring & Maintenance :

• Monitor all installations via our online monitoring platform; carry out on-site maintenance interventions when issues are flagged.

• Plan and supervise the yearly preventive maintenance campaign across the installed fleet.

• Document all maintenance activities (interventions, parts used, system status) for traceability and reporting.
  
  

Qualifications:

Professional Experience :

• Proven track record installing equipment in industrial greenhouses, photovoltaic solar systems, or other complex technical installations.

• A CFC (Swiss vocational certificate) in solar installation is an asset.

• Hands-on experience coordinating multiple trades (mechanical, electrical) on a single site.

• Experience with system commissioning, testing, and performance validation.

• Prior exposure to preventive maintenance programs and remote monitoring tools is a strong plus.
  
  

Technical Literacy :

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, structural diagrams, and equipment manuals.

• Comfortable diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults on-site and translating monitoring platform alerts into corrective actions.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously.
  
  

Operational Capabilities :

• Valid driver's license; ability to work safely at heights (mandatory).

• Significant geographic mobility across Europe for multi-day project assignments.

• Comfortable managing inventory, logistics, and tooling across multiple simultaneous project sites.

• Rigorous approach to safety, sanitary, and regulatory compliance in industrial agricultural environments.
