It all started in a Japanese restaurant in Bern. Owner Shinji Tanaka made a name for himself with his own blended salad dressings, based on sesame or onion mixtures to suit Japanese tastes. It wasn't long before his guests wanted to enjoy these authentically inspired dressings at home, and so in 2005 he began building his own small KABUKI dressing manufactory. Each dressing was mixed by hand and bottled in small containers. When Shinji Tanaka decided in 2008 to focus solely on his culinary roots and thus discontinue salad dressing production, Roman Donzé, driven by his deep love for Japan and a desire to save KABUKI dressings, founded akari taste GmbH with two partners. As managing director, he took over the production of the three existing KABUKI dressings and subsequently developed the brand steadily according to his values. To minimize entrepreneurial risk, akari taste GmbH began producing sauces for third parties in 2009 and consequently moved to more spacious production facilities in Kloten (ZH). Today, the akari taste team produces several KABUKI dressing varieties and dips, their second in-house brand, BIO huusgmacht dressings and dips, and numerous custom dressings in pouches, cups, bottles, or bag-in-boxes with great dedication and attention to detail. In August 2022, Roman Donzé took over akari taste GmbH as sole owner. As the proud owner, he continues to lead the company with passion and the same values as managing director. Two years later, in August 2024, another significant milestone followed – the move to a larger production facility. The former, long-established Chocolatier Pfister production building in Illnau (ZH) proved to be the ideal location to respond even more agilely to increased demand and specific customer requests, and to implement further new, innovative projects. We are very much looking forward to embarking on this new chapter together with you.
